Eww, this being the Q&A forum, first on the list where a lot of people unfamiliar with the site only look/post ... Loviatar, would you please edit your post to avoid more confusion? The rune traders have insignia (for Elonian-crafted armor.) No game NPC trader has inscriptions (for some equippable items from NF.)

Common mistake to be sure, but why keep it going?

Bump

Just got a bollocking for starting another thread asking for an in-game auction so instead I'll bump this one to get the attention of Anet. Yes, it's been flogged and yes there are countless threads on it, but no WE STILL DO NOT HAVE IT. So bringing it back to the fore, lets Anet know that people still want one (well most do anyway).

BTW - I was also told to use other threads instead of creating a new one but this was the only one I found still open to post in.

Thanks.

The auction house would be great. I love it in WoW. Just put some items into the auction house and go level and not have to worry about spamming WTS blah blah blah.

lol; believe me Gaile gets harassed enough at every chat that they could never forget people want the auction house. No need to try and remind them; and I don't think they look through the Q&A section anyway..

every minute not having to sell something is that more farmbot time.

Anet is making it harder for goldbots/extreme farmers and this would only give them more farm time with an autosee feature

At first I was thinking how it would benefit ebayers, we are talking about in-game gold, not actual money, so ebayer would not benefit...But then I'm thinking, they can ebay the 100,000 gold and someone would buy that. So, I can see this from both angles. But I think for the average player, you would get them more to sell in-game then buying gold off of ebay.

And every minute not having to sell something is that more playing time for the average player.

I just thought of a reason not to have an auction in game.

Not to bash ANet (I think they're great,) but we all know that any program has its glitches and certainly GW has a history of reintroduced glitches. They're pretty good about not messing with our own inventories or storages, though.

Say you put your snazzy <insert super rare thingy> into the game's auction system. You're thinking, "Woot! I'm gonna make +XXe on this! I'm rich!" Now the system glitches, and your precious treasure vanishes into the ether, gone forever. Ever accidentally sold something valuable to the merchant? Ever been scammed by someone buying your 50k item for 50g? How much worse would it be if ANet lost your item???

I vote /no auction house

My PC couldn't handle the screams.

This would deter people from using it as a storage facility, as it will cost way too much to try & list something at ridiculous prices.
I say impliment it first. If people do start using it as storage, then Anet should take the hint that we need more storage space too.

What? How is it an auction house is going to make people's stuff get nuked by a glitch? O_o

I voted yes for an auction house a year ago and I voted for one numerous times afterwards so yeah, I vote again for an auction house. It doesn't have to be some big conglom. All we need is a place that you put an item or two nto with a price and somebody pays for it... or not. You walk away and come back later and don't have to flog it in the trade channel.

Gaile Grey always responds"no new information on this subject" ANET knows we want it and it's feasible it will be included in a future expansion but until then we'll have to wait and see what we get.

might be a dead horse to some of you, but I havent been around for a while, and this is the first thread I have read on the issue.

After using the WOW auction system I and then coming back to guild wars, I really wish there was one in Guildwars for several reasons :

1 - having a single repository for items up for sale would increase competitive pricing, instead of people selling high when the opportunity arrives in LA dist 1.
2 - would mean on that rare chance that I actually get something cool that I cant use, I dont have to spend 5+ hours in LA spamming the trade channel to sell it (if I actually sell it at all)
3 - would get rid of a large amount of spam from the chat lines!!!!
4 - should I finally have enough money to buy something i want, I dont have to constantly jump around popular sale zones in an attempt to try and firstly find the item I am interesting in, and secondly can see all currently available sales of the item I want, and bid on the cheapest.

the "used as storage" issue could easily be prevented by only listing items, items listed for trade cannot be dropped, sold, salvaged, upgraded or traded.
optionally players could start with only 3 "slots" at the auctioner to place items for sale, additional slots can be purchased at rediculous prices (gold sinc)

The new functions in P party search is about as close as we get atm... Part of the reason we are not seeing the working Auction House service is an settlement with Blizzard on copyright infringement, to be sure GW and WoW are not TOO alike... IMHO that's a bunch of BS, but its what they agreed too. so the new Party search function is prob going to be as close as its going to get.

In the next few weeks expect some refinement of the new system.

Party sort, Trade toggles ect... I'm sure as people start using it it will all come...

Has anyone played 'Knight Online'?

A sell system like that would be brilliant, IMO.

For those that don't know, basically you setup your own little stall. You add your items, a price, and you can add a small message advertising your products (which is auto repeated every minute or so), Aslong as that was locked to a seperate chat channel, which can be turned off, it would be ok. People can walk around and see the items your selling (little icons above your head) As Seen Here
The icons above your head are limited to 4, but from memory you could list 10 items.
